PALOMAR KNOT

PALOMAR KNOT

How to Tie the Palomar Knot

The Palomar Knot is a very simple knot for tying on hooks, swivels and other terminal tackle. Maybe the most fundamentally known knot in bass fishing, and with the creation of fluorocarbon, maybe the most discussed and argued knot used by bass fishermen. The knot is simple to tie, very strong if tied correctly, with no crossing, and works for most every type of line.

Palomar Knot Start
Start with a piece of line and a bare hook.

Double the line over to make a loop. Then feed the loop through the eyelet of the hook.

Hold the standing line and form an overhand knot as shown.

Pass the hook through the end of the loop.

Pull both the tag end and the standing line until the knot is tightened. Clip off the tag end of the fishing line.
